Its no secret that I HATE exercise in any form. But last Sunday I donned my sneakers, roped in sister Annie & lil son Kobe to walk my sister’s dog Bob in the annual RSPCA million paws walk. RSPCA is a leading charity against cruelty of animals. Across Australia; RSPCA rescue, look after & rehome thousands of neglected animals per year. I take my hat off to them for all the goodness they do.
BUT it doesn’t stop there, I couldn’t help but google 400,000 pets are abandoned per year & of that figure 180, 000 HEALTHY animals are euthanised every year (according to abc.net.au). Isnt that heart-breaking? The time to help was NOW! Sucking up my hatred of exercise & animal cruelty we paid our entry fee then talked the talk & walked the walk.
We chose the Rockingham location to walk to avoid the mass crowds in the city. It was a blessing in disguise as the walk was coastal along the beach & only 1.7km in distance which was perfect for older dogs. Any longer & Im sure that Bob would have been snugly seated next to Kobe in his pram (& yes there were a few dogs snug in prams minus the bubs). Bob got his certificate after his walk & we celebrated over hotdogs & throwing sand in the sandpit (well Annie & Kobe threw sand in the sandpit while Bob & I rested up alongside).
Next year Im thinking bigger & better; by getting in early to register & set up a sponsor page, & also going cra-cra-crazy dressing up Kobe & Bob in matching outfits because y’know its all in the name of charity ha ha:)
If your in Australia, another wonderful charity Salvation Army doorknock appeal is happening this weekend so if you have any spare coins please think of those less fortunate:)
Happy Saturday friends!
