Aqwa: Under the sea

Before our Singapore trip we decided to encourage Kobe’s (aka K-bear) new love affair with all things with water. And like some new romances it doesn’t always go smoothly. This was our 3rd attempt at going to AQWA (a giant aquarium). The first time we forgot to pack Kobe’s shoes (naughty daddy), second time we forgot to pack the camera (naughty mama) so we weren’t going to let 10 minutes of stalking in the hot weather for a car bay deter us. We will get to AQWA to see the fish (& fish friends)!
I admit I did have a preconceived notion that the giant aquarium would be super boring but again I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t. Hooray!
There were many guided talks during the day from jellyfish, the reef, crocodiles, seadragons & more but we thought it best to do our own thing. Armed with our map we ventured on to take our time discovering all the beauty that lies in the ocean.

At first we were greeted by tanks full of illuminous jellyfish. How easy is it to get mesmerized by these until you get stung that is?

More seahorses

Finding nemo (just like the movie) was my favourite. Cheesy but true! No sight of Ariel the mermaid (oh what a shame ha ha).

Kobe was obsessed with the open tank in the middle surrounded by crocodiles, just walking up & down the bridge steps getting in everyone’s way. (Sorry fellow marine life explorers!). We spent most the time here. (Whatever keeps him happy & quiet works for us).

If I was gutsy there was an option to swim with sharks (at extra cost). Ah no thanks. Staring at them in the underwater tunnel was daring enough for this wimp. I swear one of the hungry fellas swam side by side when I was in the tunnel. Or maybe that was simple paranoia?
I think I would of enjoyed Shipwreck coast (the underwater tunnel) if Kobe wasn’t screaming like a banjee but toddlers want what they want & standing still on a conveyor belt was a no go. Thankfully daddy was there on hand to help tame those toddler tantrums:)

The stingray touchpool was a highlight, I managed to take a photo of a couple touching a stingray. Those badboys are slippery looking things zooming out the water with their beady eyes.
And what better to finish off a trip to the aquarium, a trip to the nearby beach to continue the affair.

Happy travels!
