To leash or not to leash…

child leash

Its been a quiet week in blogland for me, I have been trying to figure out a few issues I have been having in mama land…

To leash or not to leash… that is the question.

(For all those judgers, please take a moment, take a deep breath & keep reading)

“Suspenders are a fashion statement, a child leash is for safety”.

Well its official I have a runner. The lil man K-bear has well & truly turned into a runner. Last week he did a speedy gonzale & almost dipped his sandals into the murky duck pooped in pond. The week before he made a dash for the open road & dared to put his freaking feet flat on the road, which is isn’t good & especially since we live near a corner block… Whats a panicked mama to do when the lil ones are still too little to understand the concept of injuries & it only takes a second for anything to happen? Well mama loves you K-bear & I would like to see you live a long long healthy happy life.

So for peace of mind when taking the lil man out for a walk I bought a Dreambaby child leash. I decided to road test it out over a couple days with partner Mr L to Ikea & Toy’s R Us.

Trialling out the child leash

A few amused stares coupled with a few horrified glances but overall it went well. K-bear thought he had the freedom to run free in any which direction & if he got too curious to wander that lil bit further out of sight we could gently tug him back. I can’t get over for a child who hates being restraint (Im talking high-chair, pram, seat belt) how well he did. Touch wood he stays that way.(I did wish the leash was about 40cms longer).

**The day/s out were a success although we couldn’t agree on an office desk for partner Mr L at Ikea. (He still uses the old dining table & we got given a hand me down dining table so that problem is now solved). We did manage to find K-bear his Christmas gift, he chose a Chuggington train set which came with a free remote control Chuggington train (score!).

mama & son

And so the answer to the above question, is yes. One safe child=one relaxed mama.

Now if only I could get him to sleep in past 4am, 5am… so close to writing a letter to santa stating what a good girl I have been & if he could grant me a sleep in til 7am everyday. Wishful thinking!:)

Hope everyone is having a safe & happy week!

Miss G

* Sorry some of the photos are blurry the lil one cant sit still for long.
