A few weekends ago we had one of those rare days where Partner L & I had nothing planned so we thought should we A) Do all the bits & pieces that need doing around the house *yawn or B) Take a roadtrip somewhere where a full tank of gas can get us.
We choose B) & packed up the car & headed down south to Bunbury (a couple hours from Perth). Everytime we go south, we seem to miss Fergus the bull which is the statue that represents the Southwest region & like clockwork we again missed him, boo! (One day I will get a photo with him). The lighthouse at lighthouse beach brings back memories of watching Round the Twist on tv with the haunted lighthouse when I was a teenager. Man I loved that tv series (& Degrassi High). It was a painful walk 300m uphill to Marlston Hill lookout & then we had to manuoerve up the steps with a 11kg toddler on hip. K-bear smartly decided that uphill was too much work & glued himself to one of our hips. The view up the top was well worth it, Bunbury is a scenic coastal town & you get swallowed up with views of yellow, green & blue everywhere you look.
After a quick breather, we headed back down to the beach for a walk along the sand. Plus I was determined to find a pretty shell or starfish as a memento, I found neither. What I found in abundance was slimey slushy stuff everywhere. Navigating those rocks while trying to take photos without falling in was an interesting experience.
Whenever it is sunny we seem to head for the coast, I cant help but be drawn to nature’s beauty the beach. We are so lucky in Australia to have some great beaches. On my summer bucket list, I want to see turtles, dolphins, quokkas, visit the pinnacles, wave rock & hit some winerys. And Im determined to do it all! Whats on your bucketlist?
A quick pit stop at Taffys to stock up on cookie chocolate & chocolate pretzels (what else right?!?). And we were on our way to visit family before the drive home. Partner Mr L is a sucker for those toy machines & K-bear got a lil treat.
A nice catchup with family sealed our mini roadtrip. Sometimes its nice to just get away from the usual day to day stuff, take stock & rejuvenate & thats exactly what we did.
PS. Was there anything else that you wanted to see more of on this blog? Any curious questions you have about Australia? 🙂
