Off to the farm (Part 1)

In dire need of a short break away, our little family decided on a farmstay. We chose Kirup Kabins (about 3 & half drive from Perth, Western Australia). It was a breath of fresh air when we arrived to find this…

Smack bang in the middle of serenity. Immediately we unpacked our luggage & I set up my son’s K-bears truck & mine too (guess which one is mine?). Unfortunately daddy’s truck had an accident just before we set off on our roadtrip (as in K-bear harmlessly threw it across the room & a wheel was snapped off & is now sitting in mummy’s toy truck repair shop).

The best part is the view of this place. It’s such a luxury for a cityslicker like us to get a country escape. Nothing like a treechange for the weekend.

We had fun meeting all the animals, Ernie the female emu was a hungry bird, K-bear loved chasing all the chickens, I ooh-aahed over the baby lambs (in mini yellow raincoats to protect them from the weather CUTE!), Mr L stepped in a suspicous brown muck which I got the pleasure of cleaning off the porch:( We met Shaun the sheep, a baby lamb was born overnight & Ernie the emu laid an egg. And…

We spotted a baby joey snuggling in his mummy’s pouch. The only Australian animal I felt we didnt see was a Koala. I did go looking in some gumtrees surrounding the farm. Nope they were elsewhere.

Anyone wanting to get upclose & personal to Australian native animals (& wanting something different to the standard zoo experience) then I definately recommend this one.

Happy travels.
